Jordão Theatre, Art Deco theatre in Urgezes, Portugal
The Jordão Theatre features a seating capacity exceeding 1,200 spectators, incorporating extensive lighting systems with 926 lamps totaling 46,000 watts.
Businessman Bernardino Jordão initiated the theatre construction in February 1937, appointing architect Júlio José de Brito to oversee the project completion in 1938.
The renovated structure functions as a School of Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and Music, winning the National Real Estate Award in the Collective Entrepreneurship category in 2023.
The Guimarães City Council purchased the building in August 2010 for 2.2 million euros after several years of closure since December 1993.
The construction required 979 lorries of sand and gravel, along with substantial quantities of brick, cement, and iron to complete the structure.
