Gagarin International Airport, International airport in Saratov, Russia.
Gagarin International Airport is a modern facility located about 20 kilometers north of Saratov's city center. It features a 3,000-meter concrete runway and a contemporary passenger terminal building.
Construction began in January 2015 as a replacement for the outdated Saratov Central Airport. The project represented a substantial investment modernizing the region's aviation infrastructure.
The terminal displays a permanent exhibition about space exploration dedicated to Yuri Gagarin, the airport's namesake. Visitors can explore the history of human spaceflight through interactive displays throughout the building.
Regular bus services run hourly from the terminal to downtown Saratov using a dedicated access road. The roughly 40-minute journey is straightforward, and the terminal is easy to navigate with clear signage.
In 2021, the facility was voted the most comfortable airport by passengers and received the Russian Air Gates Award. This recognition was based on passenger experience and service quality.
