Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, Art education institution in Krasnoselsky District, Moscow, Russia
The Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture occupies a late 18th-century neoclassical complex on Myasnitskaya Street. Several wings enclose a central courtyard, the facade displaying clean lines and columns typical of that period.
A lieutenant general commissioned the building between 1780 and 1790. From 1838 onward, rooms were leased to a Moscow art society, turning the estate into a teaching venue.
The name reflects the three artistic disciplines taught under one roof since the 19th century. To this day, the facade and interior spaces recall the time when Russian artists sought their own path alongside established academic traditions.
The institution sits centrally in the Krasnoselsky district and is accessible from several main streets. Visitors should note that the building remains an active teaching facility, so access may be limited.
After 1917, parts of the building housed experimental art workshops where avant-garde artists taught. The studios became a meeting point for radical artistic ideas that reached far beyond classical painting.
