The institution was founded in 1912 and became the first provincial conservatory in Russia, following models from St. Petersburg and Moscow. This establishment marked a turning point in music education outside Russia's major centers.
The building draws music lovers from across the region who come to hear performances by students and professional orchestras alike. It has become a gathering place where audiences regularly return for live music.
The building offers visitors multiple concert halls of different sizes and acoustics suited to various music genres. Plan time for a concert or check the current program schedule before your visit.
In 1985 the Great Hall received a specialized organ from German maker W. Sauer, expanding the musical repertoire the institution could perform. This organ enables performances of works that were previously impossible to play.
