Rybatsky Bridge, Concrete bridge in Nevsky District, St Petersburg, Russia
Rybatsky Bridge is a modern concrete structure that crosses the Slavyanka River and connects the Nevsky District with surrounding areas. The construction has five reinforced concrete spans and separate sidewalks protected from traffic by concrete curbs.
The current concrete bridge was built between 1956 and 1957, replacing an older wooden crossing that served the area before. Engineer N.K. Penionzhkevich designed this modern replacement structure.
The name comes from Rybatskoye, a fishing village that grew here in the early 1700s when Peter the Great invited fishermen to the area. The district still reflects this heritage in how locals use and think about the neighborhood.
The bridge is straightforward to cross, with a clear dedicated path for pedestrians using sand asphalt for good grip. The layout keeps walkers fully separated from vehicle traffic through concrete barriers.
The bridge features metal crosslinks running through its central span that create a distinctive technical solution for distributing structural loads. This system rests on monolithic concrete foundations anchored deep into the ground to handle the weight of constant traffic.
