Church of the Theotokos of Kazan
Church of the Theotokos of Kazan, Orthodox cathedral in Luga, Russia.
The stone cathedral features a three-part composition with a bell tower over the narthex and displays multiple semicircular architectural projections throughout its structure.
The cathedral began construction in 1901 through local resident petitions and donations, with architect Nikolai Galaktionovich Kudryavtsev leading the project to completion in 1904.
The cathedral houses the Miraculous Icon of the Mother of God 'Pecherskaya', transferred here in 1941, along with revered icons of various Orthodox saints.
Located at Gagarina Street 27, the cathedral maintains regular services and includes a Sunday school established in 1991 for community education.
During World War II, the building served as headquarters for the 41st Military Rifle Corps before returning to religious service with a consecration in October 1942.
