Yaroslav the Wise

Yaroslav the Wise is a bronze statue standing on a granite pedestal at the intersection of Andropova Street and the Volga River embankment. The figure holds a sword in one hand and a city model in the other, representing his rule and founding of the settlement.

The ruler depicted here founded the city in 1010 and later ruled as Grand Prince of Kievan Rus. His reign from 1019 to 1054 marked a period of expansion and influence in medieval Eastern Europe.
