City of Military Glory

This granite and bronze column rises in front of the Municipal Cultural Center and carries the Russian national emblem at its peak. Four surrounding pillars form a connected memorial complex that shapes the overall impression.

The city received its City of Military Glory status in 2011, an official recognition of its defense against German forces during the Second World War. The monument was erected later to mark this formal designation and the historical accomplishments tied to it.
