Степановское, Aristocratic estate in Moscow Region, Russia
Stepanovskoe is a former aristocratic estate in the Moscow Region with several historic structures on the grounds. The central manor house stands beside a church dedicated to the Annunciation and a distinctive three-story bell tower.
The estate was granted in the 16th century to Nikita Romanovich Zakharin-Yuryev, a founder of the Romanov dynasty, following the capture of Kazan. The bell tower was completed in 1732 and represents experimental construction techniques of that era.
The bell tower chapel honors Saint Isaac of Dalmatia and displays unusual architecture with three floors and internal galleries that visitors can observe. The Tuscan pilasters on the facade show the careful craftsmanship of the 1730s.
The estate sits along the Ryazan highway M5 and is reachable by exiting at the Nikitskoye area. An asphalt road provides access from the main route to the property.
A Greek icon of Saint Nicholas is kept on the grounds, blessed by Pyotr Stepanovich Tolstoy before his death in Riga in 1656. This religious artifact links the property to an event from the 17th century.
