Pyramid Fountain, Baroque fountain in Peterhof, Russia
The Pyramid Fountain consists of 505 water jets arranged in a four-sided stepped structure, creating cascading water patterns in the Lower Park.
Engineers constructed this gravity-powered fountain between 1721 and 1724 under Peter the Great's directive, following architect Nicola Michetti's original design.
The fountain's pyramidal structure represents a monument to Russian military triumphs, taking inspiration from traditional victory obelisks placed at battle sites.
The fountain system draws water from a dedicated Pyramidal pond through specialized pipes, consuming approximately 100 liters of water per second during operation.
Seven separate chambers within an iron box at the foundation control individual water streams, allowing operators to adjust the height of each water jet.
