Sölvesborg's Castle, Medieval fortress ruins in Sölvesborg, Sweden.
The castle ruins feature an 11-meter high tower with thick walls constructed of brick masonry, boulders, stones, and mortar on an artificial mound.
Built in the early 14th century as a Danish stronghold, the castle controlled trade routes between Danish Blekinge and Swedish Småland until its destruction in 1564.
The fortress represented Danish royal power in the region, serving as a residence for Queen Margaret and King Erik Pomeranian during the 15th century.
Visitors can explore the remaining foundation structures, including cellars beneath the former tower and traces of two 15-meter wide defensive moats.
The castle tower originally stood 35 meters tall with an unusual architectural design combining a hexagonal base and an octagonal upper section.
