Bjuröklubb, Nature reserve and lighthouse complex in Skellefteå Municipality, Sweden.
Bjuröklubb is a nature reserve and lighthouse complex situated on a peninsula extending into the Bothnian Bay near Skellefteå. The site features a yellow lighthouse structure, several coastal viewpoints, a long sandy beach called Storsand, and restored historical buildings.
During the 13th and 14th centuries this area served as Jungfruhamn port, supporting fishing and seal hunting operations before land elevation made it unusable by the mid-17th century. Later development brought the lighthouse and modern facilities to serve the coastal community's needs.
The fishing chapel from 1864 stands here as a former gathering place where local fishermen would meet before setting out to sea. It replaced an earlier structure and remains a spiritual landmark for the community.
Access is via an asphalt road that leads to parking areas, with wheelchair-accessible wooden ramps near a café offering sea views. Comfortable pathways connect the different sections of the site, making it easier to explore for visitors with varying mobility.
A weather station operated by SMHI has recorded temperature and rainfall measurements here since 1878, providing a rare long-term climate record for this northern region. This data collection makes the site valuable for understanding climate changes over more than a century.
