Bünsowska huset, Historicist residential building at Strandvägen, Stockholm, Sweden.

Bünsowska huset is a five-story residential building located at Strandvägen 29-33, featuring red brick walls with limestone details and decorative towers. The facade displays asymmetrical window patterns and ornamental elements that reflect Renaissance design influences.

Friedrich Bünsow commissioned this building in 1886 through Sweden's first private architectural competition, which architect Isak Gustaf Clason won with his Renaissance-inspired design. This project marked an important shift in Swedish architectural practice by introducing the competitive design process.

The Stockholm City Museum designated the building with a blue marking, recognizing its exceptional architectural and historical importance to the city.

The building contains multiple apartments across its five floors, retaining original features such as elevators and period bathrooms throughout the structure. Visitors can best view its architectural details from Strandvägen, where the building sits prominently along the street.

This building emerged from a revolutionary competition process that transformed Swedish architecture, establishing new standards for how design projects were selected. The method later became a model for future building initiatives across the country.
