Lake Blaguš, stuwmeer in Slovenië
Lake Blaguš is a reservoir in the municipality of Sveti Jurij ob Ščavnici covering about 14 hectares with a maximum depth of 8 meters. The lake is surrounded by green hills and forests and has a calm surface that reflects the sky and nearby trees.
The reservoir was built in the early 1960s by damming the Blaguški potok stream. It was originally created to gather excess water during rainy autumn and spring seasons and to keep the land irrigated during summer dry periods.
The lake takes its name from the village of Blaguš where it is located. Today the local community uses it mainly for fishing and as a place for simple leisure activities like walks and picnics with family and friends.
The lake is easily accessible located near local roads with parking areas nearby. Visitors can walk or drive and find wide paths for walking around the water, with some sections paved making it suitable for all ages.
The water reflects the sky's colors especially at dusk creating a soft magical glow that many find calming. Nearby in the Žihlavski forest about 2 kilometers of the original winding riverbed of the Ščavnica still exists with rich wildlife.
