The Orthodox synagogue in Košice is a structure with a distinctive red brick western facade and white moldings, topped by twin tablets symbolizing the Ten Commandments. The building can hold around 800 people and functions today as both a place of worship and a venue where visitors can experience its architectural design.
The building was constructed in 1927 and became a center for the Jewish community living in the city at that time. Many members of this community were deported in 1944, an event now commemorated by a memorial inside the structure.
The interior shows geometric wall patterns and a royal blue cupola decorated with a gold sunburst design that draws the eye upward. Stained glass windows and marble Torah arks fill the prayer room, creating a space where worship continues to take place.

A bronze memorial plate from 1992 honors the memory of over 12,000 Jewish residents who were deported in 1944. This plaque sits in a quiet corner of the interior and is easy to miss, yet it marks an important chapter in the building's story.
