Andrássy Palace

Andrássy Palace is a three-story building in neo-baroque style standing at the intersection of Main and Biela streets, notable for its detailed facade ornamentation including the family coat of arms. The structure combines ornate decorative elements with a clear, geometric form typical of late 19th-century architecture.

The palace was commissioned in 1898 by Count Andrássy Dénes, with architect Vojtech Czigler from Budapest University leading the design. This construction project took place during a period of significant architectural transformation in Košice.

The building reflects the tastes of Hungarian nobility in the late 1800s, blending classical architectural details with modern construction methods of that era. Walking through the spaces, you can see how traditional design elements mix with contemporary building techniques.

The palace is located in Košice's historic center and now functions as a restaurant and café open to the public. Visitors should expect that the spaces are primarily used for dining and refreshments.

The ground floor housed a popular café around 1900 and continues in this role today through Andrássy's Cafeteria and pizzeria, maintaining over a century of continuous use as a gathering place. This long-standing function has made it a familiar landmark in the neighborhood.
