Bang Lamung, Administrative district in Chon Buri, Thailand.
Bang Lamung is an administrative district in Chon Buri province that spreads across eight sub-districts containing 61 villages. The area borders the Gulf of Thailand and includes several islands like Ko Lan and Ko Phai.
The district was established in 1909 when its administrative center was moved from Khlong Nok Yang to Tambon Na Kluea. After a storm destroyed the original building in 1952, it was reconstructed.
The district maintains traditional Thai governance structures through tambon administrative organizations while incorporating modern municipal management systems.
Sukhumvit Road and Bang Lamung railway station connect the district to Bangkok and other major cities. These main transportation routes provide good access for travelers heading in all directions.
The area contains Pattaya City, a special municipal zone that spans multiple tambon and operates under its own separate regulations. This arrangement makes it a fascinating example of divided administrative authority within a single district.
