Serpent Column, Ancient monument in Istanbul
The Serpent Column is a bronze column dating back to the ancient Greek era.
Originally erected in Delphi, Greece, it was moved to its current location in Istanbul by Constantine the Great in 324 AD.
It represents the Greeks' victory over the Persians during the Persian Wars.
Today, it stands in the Hippodrome of Constantinople, now known as Sultanahmet Square.
Despite its age and exposure to the elements, the column has survived largely intact.
