The Obelisk of Theodosius is an ancient Egyptian obelisk located in the Hippodrome of Constantinople, now Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul, Turkey.
Originally erected by Pharaoh Thutmose III around 1450 BC, it was re-erected by Roman emperor Theodosius I in the 4th century AD.
The obelisk has been a central monument in the city's history, witnessing Byzantine, Ottoman and modern Turkish periods.
It is easily accessible for tourists visiting the Sultanahmet area, which also includes the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia.
Despite its age and relocation, the Obelisk of Theodosius still stands almost intact, making it one of the best preserved Ancient Egyptian obelisks anywhere in the world.
