亀崙嶺鉄道橋遺構, Historical stone arch bridge in Taoyuan City, Taiwan
The Kulunling Railway Bridge remains are stone arch structures that crossed a valley and now sit beneath two modern bridges. Multiple arches with visible stone foundations form the core of what survives today.
This stone arch bridge was built in 1891 during the Qing Dynasty and formed part of the railway line connecting Taipei and Hsinchu. It was created under Governor Liu Mingchuan as a key link for regional rail traffic.
The bridge structure demonstrates the evolution of Taiwan's engineering methods, incorporating both Chinese and Japanese architectural influences from different periods.
You can view the bridge remains from below the modern Jianshan and Dakengxi bridges. Local transportation routes in Taoyuan City provide access to where this historical structure sits.
The foundations contain both original Qing Dynasty stonework and later concrete additions from different periods. This layering clearly shows how the structure was used and modified across several eras.
