Shilong Temple, Buddhist temple in Zhongliao, Taiwan.
Shilong Temple is a Chinese temple located on the south bank of the Zhangping River in Zhongliao, Nantou County, Taiwan. The complex includes a large courtyard used for daily prayers and religious gatherings.
According to local tradition, a traveler from Tangshan left a glowing incense vessel on a tree at this spot, which is seen as the starting point of worship here. Over the course of the 20th century, a formal temple complex gradually grew around that original site.
The black-bearded Tudigong statue inside reflects how local beliefs shaped the temple's spiritual focus after its creation in the 1950s. Visitors today come to pay respect to this figure, which remains central to the worship practices at the site.
The temple has a large parking area, which makes arrival by car straightforward. It can be visited throughout the year, though religious holidays tend to draw more visitors to the grounds.
Pilgrims here bring instant noodles as offerings instead of the more common gifts found at other temples. This practice is said to have started because the site was once hard to reach and far from shops.
