綠美橋, Steel arch bridge in Nantou County, Taiwan.
The Green Beauty Bridge is a steel arch structure spanning 280 meters (920 feet) across the Maoluo River. It connects Zhongxing New Village with the Jungong district and includes dedicated motorcycle lanes and pedestrian walkways on both sides.
The structure was completed in 1997 and replaced several earlier wooden and iron bridges that had served the crossing since 1889. This modernization improved transportation efficiency for the surrounding communities.
A public art installation at the bridge entrance depicts a buffalo boy, symbolizing the link between rural farming heritage and contemporary progress in the region. This sculpture greets visitors as they begin their crossing and tells a story about local identity.
The bridge is accessible to pedestrians and motorcyclists with clearly marked lanes and ample space for safe crossing. Visit during clear weather to enjoy views of the river below and the surrounding landscape without obstruction.
The name was selected through a vote by students from Pinghe Elementary School, who chose it from options including Rainbow Bridge and Feather Beauty Bridge. This student participation in naming the structure created a strong connection between the younger generation and the landmark.
