The Nantou mother and daughter tree is a large camphor tree located in Fengshan Village within the Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area. It consists of two trunks that grow close together, appearing as though they embrace one another.
The tree is over 300 years old and survived the deforestation that occurred during local development in the Zhangpuliao area. Its long life reflects the forest history of the region.
The name refers to the bond between mothers and daughters, which resonates with families who visit. People come here to spend time together and think about what family means to them.
The tree can be visited year-round by following County Highway 139 toward Bagua Road in Nantou City. Arriving by car is the best way to reach this location since it sits away from major thoroughfares.
It is one of the few remaining camphor trees from the original forest that once covered the entire region. The two-trunk formation resulted from a rare natural occurrence where two seedlings grew together as one.
