Zirka Stadium, Football stadium in Kropyvnytskyi, Ukraine
Zirka Stadium is an outdoor sports venue in Kropyvnytskyi, Ukraine, with a natural grass pitch and floodlights for evening matches. It serves as the home ground of FC Zirka and can hold several thousand spectators in its covered and open stands.
The site was set aside for sport in 1914 by city authorities, making it one of the oldest dedicated football grounds in the region. Over the following decades it was rebuilt and expanded several times to meet the demands of professional football in Ukraine.
The stadium shares its name with the local football club, and both are known simply as Zirka, meaning "star" in Ukrainian. On match days, the stands fill with fans wearing yellow and blue, the club's colors, creating a strong sense of local pride.
The venue is outdoors, so checking the forecast and dressing in layers is a good idea, especially for evening matches. Arriving early is advisable since streets around the stadium can get busy before kickoff.
The stadium has at times hosted national track and field championships, which is unusual for a venue primarily known for football. This double use was common in Soviet-era regional stadiums across Ukraine and left its mark on how the ground was originally designed.
