Mariinskyi Palace, Baroque palace in Pecherskyi District, Ukraine.
Mariinskyi Palace is a baroque palace in Pecherskyi District with broad courtyards framed by a two-story central building and single-story side wings decorated with Corinthian columns. The bright yellow facade stands out against the surrounding parkland and forms a visible landmark above the Dnipro River.
Built between 1752 and 1755 to designs by Italian architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli for Empress Elizabeth of Russia and overseen by Ivan Michurin. After a fire in 1819, the wooden second floor was replaced and the building underwent multiple transformations in later centuries.
As the ceremonial seat of Ukraine's president, the building hosts receptions for foreign delegations and formal occasions of national importance. Visitors notice the strict security checks and ceremonial guards surrounding the grounds.
Guided tours run from Friday through Sunday between 10:00 and 17:00 and last around 45 minutes. Advance booking and presentation of a passport are required upon arrival.
The building reopened in 2018 after extensive renovation work that lasted for years. During this time, large portions of the interior were closed to the public.
