Mariupol Museum of Local Lore

The museum contains seven exhibition halls displaying natural specimens, archaeological findings, and historical artifacts from the Donetsk region through different periods.

Founded in February 1920 by the city department of public education, this institution became the first state museum in the Donetsk region.

The museum houses 53,000 exhibits including numismatic collections, Byzantine coins, and important documents about Greek Christian settlements from the Crimean Khanate.

Located at 20 Georgievskaya Street, the museum maintains a scientific library of 17,000 books and offers educational programs for schools.

The museum's research contributed to establishing three nature reserves in the Azov region: Khomutovsky Steppe, Bilosaray Spit, and Stone Graves.
