Pisky, Village in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine
Pisky is a rural settlement in Ocheretyne settlement hromada, situated approximately ten kilometers northwest of central Donetsk in the Yasynuvata Raion district. The terrain stands at roughly 189 meters above sea level and forms part of the Donetsk Oblast administrative region.
Before 2014, around 2,160 people lived here in a suburban community with agricultural roots. During the war in eastern Ukraine, the location became a conflict zone, prompting the evacuation of all inhabitants.
Prior to 2014, residents maintained traditional Ukrainian village customs through agricultural practices, local trade activities, and community gatherings.
Access requires military permits issued by Ukrainian authorities and remains restricted to authorized personnel. No public transport operates in the area, and the settlement has no permanent residents.
Between 2014 and 2015, fighting occurred here almost daily because the location near Donetsk Airport held military importance. The ruins of the settlement became symbolic of the wider conflict in the region.
