Church of St. Nicholas, Berdychiv

The Church of St. Nicholas in Berdychiv is an Orthodox temple characterized by traditional Eastern European architecture featuring multiple domed structures. The complex sits near the Hnylopiat River and displays the design elements typical of this building style.

The site was established in 1630 as a fortified monastery under Polish Carmelite monks and functioned as a religious center for centuries. In the 20th century, its religious mission was interrupted when Soviet authorities took control in 1924.

The site survived a devastating fire in 1941 that destroyed the original icon of the Virgin Mary. A new copy of this venerated image was created and is now preserved within the church.
