Pedestrian Bridge, Footbridge over Desna River in Chernihiv, Ukraine
The metal pedestrian bridge extends 95 meters across the Desna River, featuring barriers that prevent vehicle access and maintain a 6-meter-wide walking path.
The Central Research and Design Institute of Building Metal Structures completed the construction of this crossing point in 1987, adding essential infrastructure to Chernihiv.
Residents painted the bridge rails in yellow and blue stripes during 2014, expressing national identity through this public infrastructure element.
The bridge serves as the primary pedestrian connection between the eastern and western sections of Chernihiv, accommodating daily foot traffic across the Desna River.
During the 2022 siege of Chernihiv, this bridge gained critical importance after the destruction of the Kyiv Bridge, becoming the main crossing point for supplies.
