Anshei Glen Wild Synagogue, Orthodox synagogue in Glen Wild, Thompson, United States
Anshei Glen Wild Synagogue is a single-story structure with stucco siding, a gabled roof, and a front porch supported by wooden columns. An additional rear wing from 1955 functions as a social hall for community events.
Built in 1923 by Jim Couch and Sons contractors, the building emerged after local Jewish families had gathered for worship in private homes. Its construction marked the moment when the community established a dedicated religious center.
The interior follows Orthodox Jewish traditions with a central bimah from which the Torah is read, and pews arranged to face the rear sanctuary where the Torah ark stands.
The building is easy to visit and located in Glen Wild within the Thompson area. It is best viewed from the outside, as it now serves as a cultural venue for events.
Since 2013, the building has been known as an art gallery and performance space, using its historic rooms for contemporary events. This transformation has allowed the community to keep the building alive while maintaining its original architectural features.
