St. Peter, County seat in Nicollet County, Minnesota, United States
Saint Peter extends across 6.24 square miles, with 6.06 square miles of land and 0.17 square miles of water near the Minnesota River.
The settlement began as Rock Bend in 1853 under Captain William Bigelow Dodd, receiving its current name Saint Peter in 1855 during territorial development.
Gustavus Adolphus College, founded in 1862, operates as a private liberal arts institution affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
The city maintains access through U.S. Highway 169 and Minnesota State Highways 22 and 99, connecting residents to surrounding regional destinations.
A 1998 tornado affected the city on March 29, causing structural modifications to buildings and leading to substantial reconstruction efforts.
