Lorin Cray House

The brick mansion features towers, columns, a side balcony, and windows crafted with stained, etched, and beveled glass throughout its 10,000 square feet.

Built in 1897 by architect Frank Thayer at a cost of $13,000, the house combines Classical Revival, Queen Anne, and Romanesque architectural elements.

The structure demonstrates the residential preferences of Minnesota's upper class during the late nineteenth century through its grand scale and materials.

The property underwent transformation from a private residence to YWCA facilities, including offices and a preschool, before becoming a multi-dwelling structure in 2008.

The construction incorporates buff brick, red brick, pink granite, and Kasota limestone, creating distinct exterior patterns and textures.
