Bethel Church is a non-denominational neo-charismatic megachurch in Redding, California, founded in 1952 and led by Bill Johnson since 1996. Its main building has a light-beige facade with the word "Bethel" in dark cursive letters and a dark-green standing-seam metal awning over a recessed glass entrance; a second facade reads "BETHEL CHURCH" beside a circular emblem of swept lines around a cross.
Robert Doherty founded the congregation in 1952 as part of the Assemblies of God. Bill Johnson took over leadership in 1996 and steered it toward independence, while membership grew substantially during the same period.
The worship music produced under the Bethel Music label reaches congregations around the world. Jesus Culture, a connected ministry, organizes conferences and shapes how many believers approach contemporary praise songs.
Bethel runs the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry with more than 2,000 students each year, and its healing rooms moved online during the 2020 pandemic, when hospital healing visits were suspended.
