Black Hawk State Park

Black Hawk State Park is a state recreation area built around a large lake where visitors can fish and boat. The water is accessible through multiple boat launch points and designated fishing areas spread around the shoreline.

The park took shape during the 1930s when the Civilian Conservation Corps built structures and shelters throughout the grounds. Many of these original buildings from that era remain in use today.

The lake hosts annual celebrations in summer and winter that bring people from the area together for community events. These gatherings show how the park serves as a meeting place for local traditions and recreation.

The park offers two campgrounds with electrical and non-electrical sites, plus modern restrooms and shower facilities. A playground near the camping areas serves families who want additional activity options during their stay.

A marked nature trail winds through the park with 20 labeled stops identifying different plants found on the grounds. Walking this path offers a simple way to learn about the plant life while exploring the area.
