Boylston Market, Federal era market building in Boston, United States.
Boylston Market was a three-story brick building located at the corner of Boylston and Washington Street in Boston. The structure contained vendor stalls on the ground floor and large halls on the upper levels for various uses.
The building was designed by architect Charles Bulfinch in 1810 to serve as a market. It remained at its original location until demolition in 1887.
The third floor contained a 100-foot hall that served as a performance venue for the Handel and Haydn Society and hosted numerous social gatherings.
The building underwent modifications in 1859 and later shifts to its position, but continued operations throughout. Today the original structure no longer stands, though remnants survive in the Boston area.
A portion of the structure, its belfry tower, was salvaged after demolition and later relocated to other sites in the city. This component survived when the main building disappeared.
