Dickerson Park Zoo, Wildlife park in Springfield, Missouri, United States.
Dickerson Park Zoo is a wildlife park in Springfield with around 500 animals representing regions across Asia, Africa, Australia, South America, and native Missouri species. The animals are housed in environments designed to resemble their natural habitats.
The zoo was founded in 1922 and received major funding support through the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s. These investments helped shape and expand the facility into what it is today.
The zoo serves as a place where visitors connect with animals from around the world and learn about wildlife conservation. Each habitat is designed to reflect the natural environments these creatures come from.
The grounds invite walking and offer several pathways to view the animals from different angles. A leisurely pace on foot works best for experiencing all sections of the park.
A miniature train called the Titus Express circles the lake with a view of primate islands as you ride. A special platform also allows you to stand face-to-face with giraffes, an unusual way to meet these tall animals.
