Arenbergpark, Historical park in Landstraße, Vienna, Austria
Arenbergpark is a city park in Landstraße featuring two prominent World War II flak towers and extensive green spaces. A garden pavilion from the original 1785 design complements the landscape.
The site was founded as a garden in 1785 by Prince Nikolaus I Joseph Esterházy and later passed to the Arenberg family. The renaming after the Arenberg family established the identity the park holds today.
A bronze sculpture called 'Scherzo Group' by Josef Müllner portrays a boy with panthers and has shaped the park's character since 1915. It represents a playful artistic expression that visitors encounter while walking through the grounds.
The park offers children's playgrounds, football and basketball courts, table tennis facilities, and a football cage for sports. Visitors will find ample space for relaxation and various leisure activities all in one location.
One of the flak towers is used by the Museum of Applied Arts as storage for collection items and exhibitions. This unexpected connection between military architecture and modern art shows how the monument serves multiple purposes today.
