Feuerkogel cable car, Aerial lift in Ebensee, Austria
The Feuerkogel cable car carries 45 passengers up a 2917-meter line to 1600 meters elevation in the Upper Austrian Alps. It connects the valley floor to the summit and intermediate stations, opening access to trails and rest areas across the mountain.
The system began operation from the Ebensee base in 1985 with a reversible ropeway design. Since its creation, the installation has undergone several upgrades to maintain safe and reliable mountain access.
Mountain inns along the route serve regional Alpine dishes that reflect local food traditions. Visitors can experience how Upper Austrian mountain communities prepare and share meals during their stay.
The cable car operates daily from December to March between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, with free parking at the valley station. Visitors should bring warm clothing and be ready for possible service changes depending on weather conditions.
The Christophorus chapel at the summit station serves as a wedding venue for civil ceremonies. This pairing of mountain transport with celebration creates a memorable experience that few cable car destinations offer.
