Feuerkogel, Mountain summit in Gmunden District, Austria.
The Feuerkogel summit rises 1,592 meters above sea level, forming the eastern end of the Höllengebirge range between Lake Attersee and Lake Traunsee.
The mountain infrastructure began development in 1927 with the construction of a cable car from Ebensee, followed by an 8-person ski lift installation in 1936.
The annual Feuerkogel Mountain Race in August draws participants and spectators to this peak, which hosted the European Mountain Running Championships in 1997.
The wheelchair accessible cable car system from Ebensee provides transportation to designated viewing platforms and mountain restaurants with support facilities.
The summit's weather station recorded Austria's highest wind speed of 220 kilometers per hour on December 26, 1999, maintaining its status for extreme meteorological measurements.
