Palais Colloredo-Mansfeld, Renaissance palace in Innere Stadt, Austria.
The Palais Colloredo-Mansfeld is a three-story city palace located at the corner of Parkring and Zedlitzgasse. The building features ornate carved facades with decorative balconies, elaborate window frames, and wrought iron grilles throughout its walls.
The palace was built in 1865 by architects Johann Romano von Ringe and August Schwendenwein von Lanauberg for the noble Colloredo-Mansfeld family. Its construction coincided with Vienna's expansion and transformation of the city's residential quarters during the 19th century.
The building incorporates Viennese Neo-Renaissance architecture with detailed stonework, symmetrical facades, and meticulously crafted iron window grilles.
The palace is visible from the street and situated at a central junction in the Inner City district, making it easy to find on foot. The distinctive rounded arch gateway entrance on Zedlitzgasse serves as a clear landmark for visitors passing through the area.
Between 1937 and 1938, the palace functioned as the stage for Die Insel theater company. This unexpected cultural role stands out as a brief but memorable chapter in what was otherwise a private aristocratic residence.
