Schloss Rannariedl

Schloss Rannariedl is a castle perched on a steep wooded hill overlooking the Danube River, situated near where the Ranna meets the river close to Engelhartszell monastery. Construction began around 1240 under the Falkensteiner family as a defensive fortification, then passed through numerous owners across the centuries. These changes in ownership reflect the site's importance during different historical periods.
