Sebrechtspark, Public park in Bruges, Belgium
Sebrechtspark is a public garden in central Bruges with walking paths, planted areas, and recreation spaces across multiple hectares. The park features restored greenhouses and is surrounded by historic walls.
The land began as a vegetable garden for the Grey Sisters of a local convent in the 15th century. Over time it became a private estate and eventually was transformed into a public garden for the city.
The three restored greenhouses reflect the gardening legacy of Professor Joseph Sebrechts, who grew grapes and melons here. These structures remain central to how the park is experienced today.
Enter through a monumental gate at Oude Zak 36 to access the park. Parking is available at the nearby Centrum-Zand facility, and the space is open throughout the day for visitors.
The park incorporates Smoutstraatje, a former street that once connected Oude Zak to Beenhouwersstraat. This older pathway is now part of the garden layout, showing how urban elements were absorbed into the green design.
