Tillegembos

Tillegembos is a forest park situated between the Kerkebeek valley and a sandy ridge, combining deciduous woodlands with pine groves throughout its landscape. The grounds include pathways, play areas, and diverse natural settings to explore.

The land was known as Tileghem since the 12th century and served as home to various noble families and religious communities over time. This long occupation shaped how the space developed and was used.

Community gardens scattered throughout the grounds show how local residents grow vegetables and flowers while sharing their knowledge with neighbors. These spaces reveal the strong connection people maintain with gardening and the land.

The paths throughout the grounds are accessible for wheelchair users, making exploration easier for those with mobility concerns. Marked routes for walking and running help visitors navigate and choose their preferred activities.

A traditional horse-powered treadmill found in the park shows how heavy farm work was once done using animal power. This unusual installation gives visitors a hands-on sense of how people worked in earlier times.
