Fort 4, Military fortress in Mortsel, Belgium
Fort 4 contains underground tunnels, reinforced concrete structures, and strategic observation posts positioned along the defensive perimeter of Antwerp.
The German military forces extensively bombarded Fort 4 on October 8, 1914, leading Belgian troops to abandon the structure during the night.
The fort now functions as a memorial site with panels and stones commemorating the citizens who lost their lives during the Second World War.
