St. Veroon March

The St. Veroon March military parade extends for 18 kilometers through various neighborhoods, featuring 500 participants in historical military uniforms and equipment displays.

The procession dates back to the 15th century and commemorates Saint Veroon, a descendant of Charlemagne who lived as a farm worker in Lembeek until 863.

Four regiments participate in the parade: cavalry, carabiniers, Royal Staff, and Congo Soldiers Club, each representing different periods of military history.

The parade starts early morning at the old town hall of Lembeek, where participants receive banners and medals before beginning their day-long journey.

At each chapel along the route, which crosses the linguistic border between Flemish and Walloon regions, pilgrims receive free gin, meat, and Easter eggs.
