Institut de zoologie, Zoology institute in Liège, Belgium.
The neoclassical building stretches along the Meuse River with a monumental entrance marked by three ionic columns and 29 symmetrical bays.
Construction of the institute occurred between 1886 and 1889 under architect Lambert Noppius, with students first using the facilities in 1894.
The main entrance features sculptures by Léopold Noppius, including a bust of Charles Darwin and portraits of prominent scientists against plant motifs.
The building houses the Faculty of Science's Department of Life Sciences, an aquarium museum, and research laboratories at Quai Van Beneden 22.
The institute's facade incorporates bluestone and sandstone materials, with three triangular pediments adorning the portico and lateral sections.
