Résidence Kennedy, Modern residential tower in Liège, Belgium
Résidence Kennedy is a 84.4 meter residential tower with 28 floors and 217 units, including 102 studio apartments of various sizes. The structure divides into separate wings that each house different types of accommodation arranged vertically throughout the building.
Construction took place from 1967 to 1970 as Liège was modernizing following World War II with Marshall Plan support. This rebuilding phase shaped the city through large-scale housing projects that transformed urban areas.
The building emerged when Liège was reshaping its center with modern residential structures to house a growing population. It reflects how architects of that era viewed high-rises as a practical response to urban housing needs.
The building sits near the Meuse River and Kennedy Bridge in central Liège, making it easily accessible from main thoroughfares. Its location close to key transport links means the surroundings are active and well-connected to other parts of the city.
In 2024, the building became the site of a notable aerial rescue operation using NH-90 helicopters from the Belgian military. This marked Belgium's first high-rise helicopter rescue scenario of its kind.
