Château Schimper, Medieval fortress in Plombières, Belgium

The stone castle stands on elevated ground in Moresnet, featuring architectural elements common to defensive structures of the Middle Ages.

Records from 1355 mention the castle's first documented owner, Guys van Chimpier, whose family maintained control during regional power struggles.

The castle represents a significant example of medieval noble residences in the Duchy of Limburg, reflecting the architectural traditions of that period.

While the castle no longer exists today, visitors can explore the surrounding area through marked walking paths in the Moresnet district.

The structure's complete disappearance in 1955 following gradual deterioration left only vintage postcards as evidence of its existence.
