Museum Vieille Montagne

Museum Vieille Montagne is housed in a former administrative building and presents exhibitions on zinc production and the region's industrial development. The building displays through its collections the history of metal extraction and its importance to the local economy.

The site was a calamine mining operation in the 19th century, supplying materials for European industrialization. The land was later managed by the Vieille-Montagne zinc company, which shaped the region's economy.

The exhibitions show how miners and their families lived and worked, through objects, photographs, and documents from that era.

The museum is easily accessible on foot and has clear signage to the entrance. Visitors should plan for at least one to two hours for a comfortable visit.

The building stands on the former territory of Neutral Moresnet, an independent region that existed between 1816 and 1919. This historical oddity makes it a rare example of a temporary buffer zone between two nations.
