Château de Bierbais

Château de Bierbais is a castle complex in Hévillers comprising a main residence, an ancient tower, a chapel, an orangery, a gatehouse, and a farm building at the property's edge. The entire site sits within an English-style park enclosed by surrounding walls.

The castle was built by the Bierbais-Bierbeek family and formed part of the Duchy of Brabant during the 13th century. This connection to the regional feudal structure shaped its development and importance for centuries.

The private chapel from the early 13th century displays early Gothic features that visitors can observe inside. You can see how this sacred space fits into the overall castle complex and was used by residents over the centuries.

The grounds with their historic buildings sit within an accessible park where you can observe the various structures and how they relate to one another. Allow time to walk around the different areas and explore the surrounding garden.

The Saracen Tower, a 12th-century square donjon, still stands in its original location and was built from local sandstone. This ancient defensive structure once overlooked the surrounding lands and remains one of the lesser-known parts of the overall property.
